Not all citizens of Schengen area countries can travel to Estonia from the EU without quarantine from June 1.

As published on the site of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two-week quarantine for people arriving in Estonia depends on whether the relative coronavirus infection rate in their country of origin is above 15 people per 100 000 inhabitants are infected in the passenger’s country of origin in the past 14 days. Anyone arriving in Estonia from a country with a higher infection rate must self-isolate for 14 days.

The citizens and residents of Austria, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, Croatia, Iceland, Italy, Greece, Cyprus, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Latvia, Norway, Poland, France, Romania, Germany, Slovakia, Slovenia, Finland, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Switzerland can enter Estonia without passing 14 days in quarantine after their arrive, reports Estonian Public Broadcaster ERR.

The other European citizens travelling to Estonia from Sweden, Spane, Belgium, Portugal, Malta, but also the United Kingdom and Ireland have to undergo a two-week period of quarantine even if they can present a certificate which proves they have tested negative for coronavirus (COVID-19).

Compliance with quarantine will be monitored by the police and Reinsalu said the police will carry out random checks on passengers. Tests for coronavirus are currently performed at the Port of Tallinn and will start to be carried out at Tallinn Airport.

Entry from third countries, including Russia and Ukraine, will remain banned until June 15 according to Estonia media.
